What Data We Collect

Data we do NOT collect

We do not receive, collect, or store any of the following:

• The text you highlight, capture, or open in the app
• Your questions and Eduardo's answers
• The content of any documents, emails, spreadsheets, or other files you work with
• Your keystrokes, clipboard contents, screenshots, or voice recordings
• Usage patterns, session lengths, or feature usage data
• Crash reports or error logs

Data we DO collect

Purchase data: When you buy Hey Eduardo, our payment processor, Stripe, collects your name, email address, payment details, and, where required, your billing address. We receive your email address and a reference to the transaction so we can issue your licence key, send it to you, and provide support. We never see or store your card details.

Licence records and your account: We store your email address, the licence keys you bought, your plan, and the purchase date. Buying also creates an account tied to your email address, which you sign in to with a link we email you, so you can look up your keys.

Licence activation: When you activate Hey Eduardo on a Mac, the app sends your licence key and that Mac's hardware identifier (the fixed ID macOS assigns to the machine) to our licence server. We store that identifier against your licence, with the date, to enforce the number of Macs your plan allows. No content from the app is included in this request.

Support communications: If you contact us at , we receive and store your email address and the contents of that communication in order to respond to you.

How the App Works on Your Mac

Hey Eduardo runs its AI using a language model downloaded to your Mac. In local mode, which is the default:

• Your selected text, your question, and the answer are processed on your Mac
• No text, question, or answer is sent to us or to anyone else
• Speech you dictate is transcribed on your Mac, and the recording is deleted as soon as it has been read
• Text read from your screen is extracted on your Mac by Apple's Vision framework, and the screenshot is never sent anywhere

What the app keeps on your Mac

By default, Hey Eduardo keeps your last 25 results — each summary or explanation, with up to 4,000 characters of the text it came from — so you can reopen them. This history is stored only on your Mac, is never uploaded, and does not include follow-up conversations. You can turn it off or clear it in Settings → Reading → Recent. The app also stores your licence details on your Mac so it can keep working offline.

Cloud mode (optional)

If you add your own API key for Anthropic, OpenAI, or OpenRouter and switch to cloud mode, the text you capture and your questions are sent directly from your Mac to that provider, under your account and that provider's privacy policy. We do not proxy, receive, or store this traffic. Cloud mode is off by default, the app asks before you switch to it, and the panel shows at all times which mode is on.

Downloads

During setup, the app downloads its AI, speech, and voice models from third-party hosting services such as Hugging Face. Those services see an ordinary download request from your internet connection. No content from the app is sent with it.

How We Use Your Information

• To issue and deliver your licence keys, and to let you sign in to see them
• To activate licences and enforce the number of Macs your plan allows
• To process refunds, and to deactivate licences that are refunded or disputed
• To send emails about your purchase and about updates to software you own — you can ask us to stop at any time
• To respond to support requests

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Third-Party Services

Stripe processes payments. See stripe.com/privacy.

Supabase hosts our database and account sign-in. It stores your email address, licence records, and activation records on servers in the United States.

Resend delivers our email: your licence key, sign-in links, and messages about your purchase.

Cloudflare hosts this website and our licence server.

Third-party AI providers (optional): Anthropic, OpenAI, or OpenRouter, only if you turn on cloud mode with your own API key. We do not receive or store these requests.

Data Retention

Purchase records: We retain your email address and transaction records as required for accounting and tax purposes, typically for 7 years.

Licence and activation records: We keep your licence keys and the hardware identifiers of the Macs you activated for as long as the licence exists, because they are what enforce your plan's device limit. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove them within 30 days, except where we must keep purchase records for legal or accounting reasons.

Support emails: We retain support correspondence for up to 3 years, after which it is deleted.

Security

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls on our database. Anything the app stores on your Mac is protected by your Mac's own security, so we recommend turning on FileVault and using a login password.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at . We will respond within 30 days.

Because we hold minimal personal data — your email address, purchase record, licence keys, and the hardware identifiers of the Macs you activated — most requests can be fulfilled quickly.

Children's Privacy

Hey Eduardo is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, contact us at and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and notify customers by email if the changes affect how we handle data we already hold. Continued use of Hey Eduardo after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
